DM101 - Digital Manga using Free and Open Source Software

You are about to enter the exciting world of Vector Graphics, Manga Character Design and Creation!  This first course uses simple to use, FREE, and powerful Open Source Software that anyone can master. No previous drawing or Manga experience is required for you to create professional looking Manga characters.

We are going to focus on Chibi character design but the vector drawing skills that you will learn in this class will allow you to draw any style of Manga or any other drawings that you wish.  You will be introduced to 4 Free software programs and you will be given one Free video game that illustrates how your drawings can be imported into a video game.  You can take our video game design courses to learn how to create your own video games.  You will also be given our Manga Boy Template that has the mushrooms and many other elements that you can modify in a myriad of ways as well as our Butterfly Wing Template that will allow you to attach wings to anything you wish such as creating flying carrots!

In this course you will watch your instructor's screen and listen to their voice as they guide you step by step in learning some history, technical stuff, and then creating your first Manga drawings, tracings, and character modifications. The magic of YDACS is that you can pause and replay to your heart's content and always go as fast or as slow as you desire!

This is a 60 day course.
DP101 - Digital Photo Painting Onto Canvas, Posters, and T-Shirts

You are about to enter the exciting world of Digital Painting! In this course you will learn about the amazing history of the camera, from the first camera, to the cameras your parents used, all the way to the digital cameras that you use. You will also learn what art is and if your creations will be considered art.

Then in Lesson 2 you will learn a bunch of technical stuff that you need to know about computers and digital cameras. In Lesson 3 you will learn how to make all kinds of manual and automatic adjustments to your images. Finally in Lesson 4 you will learn the coolest stuff; Effects and Filters!

Students have 60 days from when they enroll to complete this course & it requires the purchase of Photoshop Elements. Enrolled students can purchase our Wacom Drawing Tablet that in-cludes Photoshop Elements 6.0 and Corel Painter 4.0 for $99, there is no charge for shipping and handling, via the Student Control Panel.

VGD101v2 - Video Game Design Basics

VGD101v2 teaches students the basics of Video Game Design and Programming while they create their first video game. They will design and create the virtual world and the movement, properties, and actions of characters found in the extensive Multimedia Fusion game library.

v2 uses Multimedia Fusion version 2 also referred to as MMF2. All students enrolled in VGD101 are eligible for an exclusive 33% off the price of Multimedia Fusion which can be purchased when you register for a userid, or through the Student Control Panel, for $80 plus $10 shipping and handling.

VGD102v2 - Designing Platform Video Games

VGD102v2 delves into the art of designing and creating a Platform Video Game. Students will review a short history of platform video games and then learn how to create platform specific characters, character movements, enemies, power items, level bosses, and other functions as they create their first platform video game.

VGD103 - Creating & Animating Video Game Characters

VGD103 teaches students the fundamentals of basic digital animation. After the basics students learn how to create and animate video game characters in the professional 2D animation program "Toon Boom Studio."

Students will learn how to create a walk cycle, a jump cycle, and also how to animate their character throwing. These animations will then be used to import their character into Multimedia Fusion for their custom video game.

Toon Boom Studio is available at an exclusive discount price of $89! This package is normally $399. After a student enrolls in VGD103 they will be able to purchase ToonBoom Studio.

LTMT101 - Learning Through Music and Technology 101

The YDACS is proud to offer the MadPlayer™ hand-held digital music studio. After extensive research and study of portable composition devices, YDACS chose the MadPlayer™ because of its truly unique composition and high quality recording abilities. This hand-held music studio enables students to work on their compositions and song ideas either independently or in concert with a computer using music composition software.This course teaches students how to compose and record original, professional sounding music with the MadPlayer Hand-Held Digital Music Studio.

MadPlayers are no longer being made and are therefore collectible. We have a limited supply still available for purchase.

Students use the MadPlayer to compose original music, lyrics, rap, and poetry, for their documentary, animation, and video game soundtracks.

Creating your own music is much better than using copyright protected music which may require students to pay royalties for using the music. In fact students own the music they create and can sell it to others if they wish.

MadPlayers can be purchased when you register for a userid, or through the Student Control Panel, for $499 plus shipping and handling.

LTVT101 - Learning Through Videography and Technology 101
LTVT101 teaches students how to create their own short documentary film using a state-of-the-art prosumer camcorder, the Panasonic PV-G250, and professional, yet inexpensive, video editing software from Sony, Sony Vegas.

Although we use the Panasonic PV-G250 in the course any current camcorder with firewire or i-link, or any digital camera with a usb connection, can also be used.

As with all LCG courses we are able to offer the software at the lowest price available for those who take the course.
